Things I Miss
Okay so I am really into the whole list thing, so I thought I'd write about 10 things I miss.
1. My Nana. From the time I was born till the time my Nana died when I was 13, I spent every sunday afternoon at her house. This was a time when the whole family came together aunts, uncles, counsins, etc.. I loved sunday afternoons, I loved looking in her closet and trying on all her shoes (She had a shoe addiction much like myself), giving myself makeovers with her makeup and nailpolish, trying on her jewlery, and playing with my cousins (this was the only time I got to see them). My Nana always had candies, chocolate, gummies, chips, pop, cheese, homemade fugde and homemade bread there for all of us to pigout on and that we did, is it any wonder I am the size I am? My Nana was the hippist 70 year old lady I've ever met, she had a boyfriend, she went shopping every saturday in Yarmouth for a new outfit and shoes, she had more purses than I had ever seen, and she was active in her church choir and community. I love my Nana so much and wish she was still here. After her death there was no meeting spot for the family and therefore we don't get to see eachother that often. I wish my Nana could have met Farron I know she would have loved him and they would have got along great. She loved to tease and I will always miss her. I love you, Nana!
2. Bonkers! I remember as a kid going to the old Pharmacy in Barrington and everytime I'd go there mom would buy me a pack of Bonkers. I loved those chewy candy so much. They tasted so good, grape, strawberry, etc...Oh my mouth is watering
3. Calgary. I had such a good summer in Calgary. I miss the C-train. That train just zipped everywhere, you never had to wait at all. Back here in Halifax the bus is always late and you always have to wait atleast 20 minutes between runs!!!! I miss going to the Bow River, the Stampede, the zoo, playing with Cocco and Suki, visiting with Aaron and Tanya, having a washer and dryer, having a bathroom off my bedroom, and cable.
4. I miss spending time with my Dad. I remember when I was youger I was always in his truck. Whether he was going to the wharf or for a ride around the Point I was there. He took me everywhere he went. I loved those days when everything seemed simple and I didn't have to worry about beig a girly girly, I could where my little rubber boots and go aboard his boat, help fiberglass (well maybe get in the way) or trot into the bait shed with him and not even mind the smell.
5. Christmas mornings as a kid. I remember Christmas Eve we'd sit around the livingroom sucking in the woodstove heat, and then we'd all take turns opening one gift. I always got to go first because I was the youngest. Then we'd all go off to bed with excitement, I always had a hard job going to sleep and we were all early to rise, never later than 5 am. We'd each open our stockings that were left by our bedroom doors, then we'd run in wake up Mom and Dad and watch them open their stockings. Then we'd all go downstairs, Dad would start the fire and Mom and Dad would take turns reading of Christ's birth and say a prayer. Then we'd take turns going around opening our presents and once again I always got to go first because I was the baby. Every year I would get a doll (and still do). After opening our presents we'd go visit my aunt and uncle, come home eat turkey, and then spend the rest of the day at my Nana's house. We'd also visit my Aunt Joanne and she always had a gift wait for me (a doll and still carries on this tradition, she didn't buy me a doll 2 years ago and felt so bad later that day she brought me up one she got for Christmas :) ). I can't wait to have a family of my own to carry on these very traditions.
6. Being outdoors. I know this sounds crazy but I so miss playing outside as a kid. Growing up I spend 80% of my time outside. I was always outside playing with the neighbourhood kids. We would all get together and play baseball, twice around the house, home free, go sliding, play war, have apple fights down back, go swimming, climb trees, go biking, skating at the local pond, or play in Elton's hammock. Do kids even go outside anymore? I loved playing outside by myself making mudpies or even playing with dinky cars in the dirt. I remember Erin and I once found old roller skates in the barn and spend the next month roller skating after school. Me and her played together all the time, her gradfather built her the coolest club house we'd play in there for hours. She taught me how to ski and climb trees, speaking of which I went to jump out of on of those trees we climbed and the neck of my shirt got caught around a branch and I was tangling there choking her grandfather had to come get me down. Oh the good old days, lol.
7. Cruising. In senoir high I spend so many nights just driving around with Andrew, Ryan, Troy, Jamie, and April. We'd have no destination just driving, listening to music, and fighting. Oh it was so much fun. This one time we were in Ryan's car, I was in the back seat with my window down and decided to stick my head out the window. Well my arm hit the window up button and the window came up to my throat and I could speak I was trying to get there attention but they didn't know what was going on and I was so panicy I didn't dare hit the window button because I didn't know which way was up and which way was down. Eventually I was able to calm down a hair and push the button the right way, lol. It was the scariest yet one of the funniest moments I can remember.
8. ICQ. This is where April and I spent many a nights talking to guys about 20 a time, and sometimes pretending we couldn't speak english it was so fun. This is also where Farron and my love began to blossom, lol. We started talking online and well things just took off from there. Don't tell anyone but Farron is the reason I bought a computer, so I could have ICQ and talk to him. It was the best $1600 I ever spent! Miranda always joked with me about this, lol. We'd try to find info. out for each other by talking to guys for eachother and then we'd message each other, we'd stay up so late school nights doing this, it was so much fun. MSN just isn't the same, or maybe it's just that I am older now, who knows.
9. Crow's Neck Beach. Over the summers I spent quite a bit of time. April and I would often go for walks there when we were in our "let's lose weight phases." And mom, dad, and I would often go there as well. On occasion i would even going swimming, even though the water left me purple. And a whole gang of us wouldn't often go there for walks, run from birds, and have bonfires. I even spent the night there once, a whole group of us went camping. We stayed up late telling stories, i couldn't stop laughing and will never forget that night it was oh so much fun. I also liked going to Crow's neck and sitting on the rocks at the end of the beach watching the waves come in and thinking about my future...and well now my future is here.
10. And lastly the camp. The end of grade 11 I was introduced to "The camp". This is a log cabin Farron, Matt, Jay, and Og made. You have to trudge through the woods about 20 minutes by foot and be careful not to fall off the logs into the bogginess. But once there is was all worth it. The times I went the place was always packed and very lively. The stories I could tell but to save my innocence my lips are sealed. It would be so nice to go back there for a visit, I really love that place. Everytime I was there I just felt so happy it was so nice....
