Farron and I are here in the big city of Calgary for the summer. We decided to come out to see what we thought of the place before moving here next year. And so far we absolutely love it!! We also decided to come out so we could spend some time with my brother and his new wife, that's right my brother tied the knot last week-end, it was a beautiful ceremony which took place outdoors at the Calgary zoo with a reception and dance that followed in the conservatory it truely was breath taking.
Before the wedding my whole family flew out and we had a hectic but very exciting week of visiting and seeing the sites, some of which i want to write on here as futire reference incase i forget the wonderful time we had, the memories we made, and the bloopers that took place.
I guess I will start with the zoo, this was a great time and my mom made it so much more memorable for all of us. Let me begin by saying just how much i love my mom and how very special she is to me. 20 years ago my mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor, she under went surgery and the family was told she may be a completely different person personality wise after the surgery. Well lucky for us this was not the case, the tumor was successfully removed however my mom was left with tunnel vision, making her legally blind. You would never know this from seeing her, she gets around fine, has a job, and needs no assistance, however from time to time she doesn't see things as quickly as we do which was evident at the zoo. I will recall a few examples, at one of the animal exhibits we were all staring at the magnificient creature that stoode before us meanwhile my mom was staring at the ground trying to figure out what we were all looking at, we were looking at the gigantic giraffee standing right in front of her, then there was the time she began talking to Sabrina about how cute the monkeys were only to quickly realize the lady with blonde hair wasn't actually Sabrina, and lastly the flamingos we were all standing around watching the flamingos when my mom leans over to Laurie pointing to a moss covered, wired shaped fake bird statue and says "Laurie what kind of bird is that?" and Laurie without hesitation says " Fake where I come from.
